Where to… Puebla: City of Angels

We have some long weekends coming up and at this time of the year a lot of people prefere going to the beach, but sometimes is nice to go somewhere else. So this time we chose PUEBLA: The City of Angels.

Puebla, a World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO, has so many things to offer: great architecture, vast culture, amazing cuisine, entertaiment… Getting there is really easy, it is located 120 km (75 miles) southeast of Mexico City, so you can get there either by first class bus or by plane to Aeropuerto Internacional de Puebla.

Sleep: Hotel Boutique “La Purificadora”. When this hotel opened, it made the HOT LIST on Conde Nast Traveler magazine and ts lobby bar, is one the hot spots in town.

Shop: “El Parian de Puebla”. This venue is considered an oasis for shoppers. If you want to buy beautiful ceramic or other traditional crafts, this is the place to go. You will find more than 100 stalls offering crafts from differents regions from the State.

Eat: A very well known and traditional dish in Puebla is Mole Poblano. There are so many amazing restaurant options, that it wouldn’t be fair to name just one, but at the same time it is impossible to name all the good places (it would make a huge list). So here are our top 3 options: “Moyuelo”, “Casareyna” and “El mural de los Poblanos”. If you are looking for something not so up scale you should definetely visit Mercado el Carmen and eat some cemitas, our favorite “Cemitas las Poblanitas”

Entertain: “Plazuela de los Sapos”. In this square you will have a great night enjoying traditional music like mariachi. If you are more of a modern kind of person go to “Angelopolis” where you will find a variety of cafes, bars and nightclubs.

Visit: Make sure you don’t miss: Library “Palafoxiana”, Puebla’s Cathedral, Museum “Casa de Alfeñique”, City Hall, Regional Museo “Amparo y Cholula”.
